About Rafael


Rafael Alberto Méndez Romero is a Ph.D. student, originally from Colombia, in the Doctoral Program “Research of the Didactics Social Sciences, Experimental Sciences and Mathematics” at University of Valladolid, Spain. He has a degree in Mathematics by the Colombian School of Engineering (2008), a Post-graduate Specialization in Applied Mathematics at the University Sergio Arboleda (2009), and a Masters degree in Mathematical and Computational Modelling by University of Valladolid (2013). During the period 2008-2011 he was a university teacher of Mathematics at the Colombian School of Engineering, University Sergio Arboleda, and University of Environmental and Applied Sciences. During the period 2009-2011 he was professional assistant in research projects for the Ministry of Education of Colombia, funded by Colciencias, focused on Teacher Education.

He is currently developing his doctoral thesis entitled "Professional competencies and Didactic of Mathematics: A Multidimensional Study of Contexts", directed by José María Marbán Ph.D., and expected to be defended in November this year. The thesis is focused on the study of the models of Teaching Excellence, studied in detailed from a deductive and inductive perspective.
